Size of the medial axis and stability of Federer's curvature measures

چکیده
In this article, we study the (d − 1)-volume and the covering numbers of the medial axis of a compact subset of R. In general, this volume is infinite; however, the (d− 1)-volume and covering numbers of a filtered medial axis (the μ-medial axis) that is at distance greater than ε from the compact set can be explicitely bounded. The behaviour of the bound we obtain with respect to μ, ε and the covering numbers of K is optimal. From this result we deduce that the projection function on a compact subsetK of R depends continuously on the compact set K, in the L sense. This implies in particular that Federer’s curvature measure of a compact subset of R with positive reach can be reliably estimated from a Hausdorff approximation of this subset, regardless of any regularity assumption on the approximating subset.

Background and Objective: Low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders. Exercise therapy is one of the most common treatments for low back pain. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of 6-week core stability exercises on disability and dynamic balance in women with non-specific chronic low back pain. Materials and Methods: This controlled clinical tri...

متن کاملMeasurement of Posterior Tibial Slope Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Background: Posterior tibial slope (PTS) is an important factor in the knee joint biomechanics and one of the bone features, which leads to knee joint stability. Posterior tibial slope affects flexion gap, knee joint stability and posterior femoral rollback that are related to wide range of knee motion. During high tibial osteotomy and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery, proper retaining the...

I In this paper, a new filter is designed to enhance medial-axis of tubular structures. Based on a multi-scale method and using eigenvectors of Hessian matrix, the distance of a point to the edges of the tube is found. To do this, a hypothetical line with a deliberate direction is passed through the point which cuts the tube at its edges. For points which are located on the medial-axis, this di...
